This command is useful when you have the same person repeated in your database and you have completed personal activities that you would like transferred to the real contact, so you can delete the excess contact. You cannot delete a contact that has completed activities, so you need to remove activities tied to that contact and transfer them to the contact that will remain in Wintouch. For example, you have a Bob Johnson and a Robert Johnson (the same person) that both have activities completed from the Contact Summary Window and you would like to remove one of them.
The Merge With Another Contact command will transfer Contact Summary Related Activities that are scheduled or completed for the contact you are viewing to another open contact. This command will not transfer activities completed at the Account level.
Note: You must have the Contact Summary windows of both contacts you want to merge open.
After you have merged the contacts, there will be a shell contact remaining, in addition to the contact to which you transferred all the related activities. The shell contact must be manually deleted or it will remain as a contact in Wintouch. View the following instructions to delete the contact.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: If the contact is associated to another account or if the contact was disassociated from another account but still has activities tied to it from that account, the contact will not be deleted, and you will receive the following message box.
